UPDATE: Brownie has had his leg amputated, and is doing great with running and playing around without his back left leg. He is now ready to be adopted to his forever home!! Brownie is a chihuahua, and he probably has Min Pin in him too. He is just at a year old, weighs only 6 pounds, and is a sweetheart. He was a stray that found a family to stay with, but he was hit by a car and they couldn't afford to take him to the vet. They called us to take him. His leg is broken just above his knee and had already begun to 'heal' but not correctly. So he has no use of the leg. He will need it to be amputated. Brownie tested negative for heartworms, so he has been started on Interceptor. He had his shots, and has been neutered, so as soon as he heals from the leg surgery, he will be ready to go to a loving home that will take extra special care of him. He did get out of the chain link fenced yard once, so he obviously is an escape artist. So he will need a family that will watch him and hopefully give him so much love and attention that he won't want to escape. He must be part of the family and stay in the house except for potty breaks. Because of Brownie's special needs, he will not go to a home with young children. Any children should be at least 10 years, so they can understand how to handle such a small dog that will have 3 legs. His adoption fee is $125, to help cover some of the vet cost. We hope to get some donations to help with the rest of the cost. The first step if you are interested in meeting Brownie is to fill out our Adoption Application . After your application has been approved, we will set up an appointment to meet. Pets For Life Rescue has decided as a group not to ship our pets, the prospective owners must be able to come see the pets in person.
