Foster home needed ASAP. Skeeter is a 7 month old neutered male Blue Heeler. He is up to date on vaccines and is working on some beginning training. He has been in the same home since a puppy but now needs somewhere to go more appropriate for his active breed. He is very sweet and playful and loves to chase balls. Skeeter is completely deaf and so needs a fenced yard for safety reasons. Although he can't hear, he is quite bright and learns quickly, mostly through simple fun sign language. He is able to pay attention and follow cues. He is very affectionate and oh so cute. He seems friendly with people and dogs although he has had limited experience. Skeeter is house trained and crate trained. He still has some puppy behaviors like needing appropriate toys to chew on. The Misha May Foundation will help with his adoption through training tips and education regarding deaf dogs. When adopted, he can also attend our training classes at half-price. It is important to see him as an individual dog first, then a Blue Heeler by breed, and lastly to see his deafness as just one aspect of who he is. There is a large Denver community of devoted owners of deaf dogs, as well as many resources. There is annual picnic where the dogs show off their wonderful personalities and impressive skills such as agility and dancing. Skeeter's adoption fee is $150. He is neutered, micro chipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. As we do not have a facility, we can make arrangements for you to meet him after you complete and email an application from our adoption page, http://mishamayfoundation.org/adopt.htm. Or, you are welcome to check our events page, http://mishamayfoundation.org/events.htm for our scheduled adoptathons. If you want to know if a certain dog will be at an event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for that information. If you aren't sure about adopting yet, but would like to help an animal, please consider becoming a foster home. We offer 2 week, 30 day, 90 day and longer foster contracts. We often need emergency help and placement for puppies. It is easier for all if we have approved applications on file. We will train you and prepare you. Please go to http://mishamayfoundation.org/adopt.htm to complete the foster home application.
