Poor Shelby came to us with a nasty skin infection and she had lost a lot of her hair. On the bright side, she is over her infection and her hair is growing back nicely. The vet estimates her age at about 6 years and she is healthy now as well as heartworm free. She is a mid sized little lady who is very shy. Like many dogs we have kept as foster parents, Shelby was kept in an outdoor kennel with little exposure to anything outside of her kennel area. At first, she would not walk into the house as she is afraid of new things. She is improving rapidly though and walks in and out on her own now that she has a routine established. She now enjoys sitting on the couch for hours. She is very happy to see us every day. She doesn't seem to be able to wag her little stump, so her whole butt wags instead! She loves to run and play around the yard with our other dogs. Shelby has many things to overcome so she really is best suited for those with prior Brittany experience. She would also probably do best with a companion dog. She tends to bark when left alone in her crate if she knows that people are around. She also tends to grab and chew things in her playfulness. We are working on that but she has a way to go. She is also not housebroken yet. Someone with time and patience can help her shine. She really is a friendly, sweet dog who needs someone to show her there is more to life than a kennel.
