UPDATE 6/24/09: Diego's ears are doing much better and we were able to take the bandages off. He did develop kennel cough but is being treated for it. Diego continues to be a real delight in his foster home. He's well behaved and gets along with everybody!
Meet Diego!!
Diego is a fawn Boxer boy with naturally floppy ears and a docked tail. He is approximately 1 year old and at 54 lb, he is underweight.
Please don't make fun of some of poor Diego's photos! He currently has some nasty sores on his ear margins which every time he shakes his head, it causes them to bleed and spray blood everywhere. Dr Tom wrapped up his head to lessen the problem. Rather than being from fly bites, Dr. Tom thinks the issue is due to vasculitis of the ear margins. He is on medication for this and a supplement to build up his immune system. His ears are already improving, so we suspect they will be healed soon. Once the bandages are removed, we will get better photos of this handsome dude! Diego had been found as a stray and brought to the county shelter. When no one came to claim him, St. Louis Boxer Rescue was called. This is one very cool Boxer boy, folks! He's happy and just loves everyone. He is doing terrific in his foster home with mom, dad, both kids and the other dogs (male, female, young and old). His foster home can't express enough what a little lover this guy is. Diego is going to make someone an awesome companion. He is up to date on his vaccines, is on heartworm prevention and is scheduled to be neutered soon.
