There was not a dry eye in the place when Alexis' elderly owner surrendered her at the rural Arkansas kill shelter. He dearly loved his dog that he had raised from a puppy but now he was moving to the nursing home and there was nowhere else for Alexis to go. Understandably, Alexis was very afraid in the shelter, she didn't understand what was happening to her, why she had been abandoned. The shelter employees were so touched by this sweet dog that an all points bulletin was sent on the internet and that's how Alexis came to be saved by Good Dog Rescue.Alexis is a 7yo female purebred boxer, friendly and well-socialized with a medium activity level. Loves to run and play outside, but then settles down quickly in the house. Likes to go for walks, loves to be with people, enjoys being petted and brushed. Great with kids, cats and other dogs. Recommended for children 6 years and older. Good on a leash, rides great in the car. Knows basic commands . Housebroken and crate-trained. No issues such as separation anxiety, counter surfing or barking. When she was a baby, Alexis fell out of the back of a pickup truck and broke her back leg; surgery was done and Alexis walks just fine but that leg healed just a little crooked. It's clearly pictured in her video where you can see that her mobility isn't affected at all. Alexis weighs about 55#, healthy, altered and utd on shots. br> Alexis is a healthy, active dog but because she's officially 'a senior' her adoption fee has been discounted. (but don't tell Alexis because she doesn't feel like a senior!)To adopt please fill out an adoption application. For more information about our adoption procedures and fees, please visit our homepage at Good Dog Rescue. For more information or if your have questions email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
