Here is what the Vet Said:Lexi is about a year old. She has a shattered hip! (Could be from a car or maybe from a cow that kicked her in the field she was living in). There is a ball & socket at the hip - the socket part is broken and because it was trying to heal on it's own it is causing 'spurs' to form which are jagged and causing her lots of pain (she moans all the time). She is in heat & she is heart worm positive. She needs her shots and spaying. WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR:We have contacted via internet many organizations for homeless animals and have had hardly any luck in getting assistance. FRIENDS OF HOMELESS ANIMALS is paying for her heartworm treatment and helping with the hip surgery, but this is very expensive and funds are short so we need help!!! She will have to have shots & be spayed. We have her on pain meds that she needs for a month before surgery. We have started the Heart worm treatment already and have to keep her calm for a month to cure the heartworms. In 30 days she has her spay and hip surgery. Then we have to continue to keep her calm so she can heal properly. EXPECTED COST:SPAYING $90+SHOTS:$70+HEARTWORM TREATMENT $150.00+HIP SURGERY including x-rays $350-$400 or more...
