Description:
See Spencer's Homepage Spencer (Protege #0130) is a 1 year old small Border Collie mix. He is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and is currently on heartworm and flea preventatives. Spencer was an owner surrender to a shelter in western Iowa. He was not well cared for by his owner, and as a result is very underweight right now, weighing in at only 19 pounds when he should weigh around 25. Spencer was at the shelter for several months, and was a shelter favorite, baffling the shelter volunteers about why such a great little dog had not yet been adopted. Spencer is now in foster care awaiting his forever home. He is a splendid little dog! He is getting along well with his new housemates (4 resident dogs and 2 resident cats). Spencer is very playful with the other dogs, and goes to doggie daycare with his foster mom several times a week, where he really enjoys being around the other dogs and the staff. Spencer is house trained and crate trained. He has not had any accidents in his foster home. He travels well in the car, and in fact just went on a trip with his foster mom to a seminar in Nebraska, where he did very well on the car ride, and in the hotel as well. Spencer is wonderfully friendly and outgoing with others. He is happy for attention from anyone, and loves to give kisses to those who give him some love! He is not an overly active dog - he loves his play time, but he also loves to spend plenty of his time draped across your lap, or laying next to you on the couch will all four paws in the air waiting for a belly rub. Spencer is going to make someone an affectionate, fun, and easy going companion. During his most recent vet visit, the vet detected that he has a heart murmur. This means that Spencer will not be a flyball or agility dog, but the condition should not affect his daily life. He will however make a great companion, and even possibly a competition obedience star for you! This little guy is in the top running for my favorite foster dog ever! Please contact Jayne McQuillen at mcjayne@yahoo.com for more information or to meet Spencer; but be warned once you see this sweet little face in person and are on the receiving end of a few Spencer kisses he will steal your heart away!
