Description:
Best Friends of Baker ~ Forever Homes for Pets
Barkley is a beautiful 3 years old, 32 pound female Border Collie mixed breed. She and 3 siblings were rescued from a ranch 21 months ago, where she was born and raised with very little to no human contact for her first year of life. It has taken over a year for her to become approachable in her foster home setting. She now spends hours indoors with her foster family daily and is a very loving companion who enjoys being petted and lying near her trusted human partners. She can be very shy around introduced humans until she gains the trust in each new person, which may take some time. She does extremely well with other dogs and cats in the house. Caution should be used when outdoors in an open setting with cats, poultry and other small animals as she learned to hunt and provide for herself when alone on the ranch. She is house broken to a dog door; therefore, she does not know how to tell you that she needs to go out. She is acclimated to living outdoors in her kennel area at night and should have a fenced yard when outdoors. She is leash trained and loves to go for walks. She is a good watch dog. Because she was not properly socialized early in life, she will do best in a home with another dog that is well socialized. She is healthy, current with shots, spayed, and she is micro chipped. She is waiting for her forever home with adults that are patient and willing to work with her.
