Sam is quite the guy! He spent the first 4 years of his life as an outside only dog on a farm, with no shelter other than a hole in a barn. He has some scars on his face from who knows where. We think they add character, and his handsome and sweet personality show through his former traumas!
Sam is a black and white split face, purebred rough coat border collie. He weighs approximately 50 lbs.
Sam is learning to love being in the house. He has already learned the couch is wonderful and watches football games with me. We are working on housetraining, and he is coming along wonderfully. Sam is crate trained, is not destructive or pushy in the house. He pays no attention to our cat. He gets along fine with the other dogs, but he is somewhat afraid of them outside when they romp and play. He will “hit the ground” when they charge up to him to play.
Gentle, and loving are two words that suit Sam to a T. He loves people, and although shy at first will warm up quickly and seek pets.
Sam loves to be outside and frisk around when we are outside. He is finally walking and running with his head and tail up, at least most of the time. We are working on his recall and he is doing well, although since he had been allowed to run he needs constant supervision.
Sam is been tested heart worm negative, and is on preventative. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his shots. He is being fostered in southern IL near Centralia, IL (70 miles east of St. Louis, MO).
