Vala is a wonderfully clever adult spayed female, with loads of energy and an incredibly big heart! She needs an adult family or a family with older children who can appreciate her bubbly, enthusiastic, working-dog personality, plus a large fenced yard to run in. Vala gets along well with other dogs, but is scared of cats and small children. She is a fast learner, responding best to cuddles, not punishment. She knows all basic commands, PLUS: off, out, back, speak, high five, shake, leave-it, and “bang” (shape fingers like a gun, say “bang,” and she flops over and plays dead for a second). :o) At night Vala likes to sleep in her kennel (crate), and the command to get her to go in it is “kennel.” She can be trusted around the house to leave your things alone and only chew her own toys. She knows the names of all of them and will (usually) fetch them if you say, “Vala, go get __!” She is TONS of fun to play with! Vala's special need is her seizure disorder that is managed with medication given twice daily. Prior to starting her medication, her seizures consisted of her standing stiffly in one place, and barking loudly for up to one minute. Vala's favorite things are playing frisbee, following a laser pointer, running and playing with other dogs, cuddling on the couch, car rides, baths, learning new things, and being part of an active loving family!
