Description:
Floyd is an old guy who ended up at a shelter as a stray and nobody came looking for him. We can't understand why, because he is the sweetest! He is gentle and calm for the most part, although bring out the treats and that agile Border Collie persona comes out! He was probably an outdoor-only dog originally, as he showed reluctance to come indoors at first, but his old bones truly appreciate a warm place to sleep at night. Floyd is protective of his home, but only vocally. He will definitely give you an 'intruder alert!' He sings (howls musically) his greeting when you come home. He generally gets along with most other dogs, and will be submissive to an alpha female but will guard his dish against other dogs (not against people, though). He is tolerant of cats, which means he ignores them in the house and may chase them outside, considering his job to be protecting his property. Floyd is incredibly loving with his people, but sometimes gets a bit mouthy when excited (he likes to take my arm gently in his teeth), and although he would NEVER hurt anyone, it's recommended that he go to a home with no very small children. Although a herding breed, at the age of 9 years he has slowed down, and no longer requires tons of exercise and playtime. He loves being a couch potato and hanging out. A simple glance in his direction will get his tail thumping happily. Floyd is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
