Can't adopt but want to help? Please email the contact above to find out about sponsorship, fostering, and other ways you can help this animal! Please note that financial sponsorship will be applied to the specific animal you indicate unless it is not needed, at which time we will let you designate it for another HT animal of your choice.
You can save animals by becoming a foster! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters, so that they have more time to find a permanent family. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please click here.

Meet Edie. She is a super sweet black and tan hound mix who finds herself living in a dog house that is located in a rural outdoor shelter. Edie has very little chance of being adopted in the current location where she is. Edie would love to find a nice home and family who will teach her what it is to be a loving member of a family. Edie was most likely raised to be a hunting dog as she was found roaming through the countryside and appeared to have been abandoned. Edie hopes to find a family as soon as possible as it is going to be getting very cold at night soon in the mountains and she isn't looking forward to living outdoors this winter. Please adopt Edie and give her the home that she deserves. Breed Estimate: black and tan hound mix Gender: female Approximate weight:40 poundsApproximate age:3-4 years Location: rural shelter but can be brought to the DC area for an approved adopter or foster. The adoption fee for this dog is $275, which covers the cost of routine vet care, as well as spay/neuter surgery.
