Eliza Jane is one of three identical sister Beagles who were surrendered by their owner to the shelter. All three girls look so much alike and are all very sweet with super dispositions. They would make great family dogs. Come see them today! Beagles are alert, joyful, even-tempered dogs that love children and crave attention. They require regular brushing of their short-haired coat. They need firm handling as they are strong-willed and not always easy to train. They need regular, moderate exercise and do adapt to urban living quite well. They do not make good watch dogs. Be aware! Beagles bay when they bark which can be irritating to both the owner and the neighbors. They are also hunting dogs with great noses and tend to get their nose on a ground sent and run or wander away from home if not watched or securely fenced in. He/She will need to be neutered/spayed by his/her new owners. He/She is eligible for a ShelterCare Insurance special offer as a Petfinder.com adoption and it is recommended that all newly adopted animals be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible for a checkup. Surgery, vaccinations, worming, flea treatment, heartworm testing and prevention can be discussed at this time. This dog will do well in a city setting with a securely fenced-in yard but beware of baying bark. It may do better in a country setting but, again, with a securely fenced-in enclosure.
