Description:
Sally came to us in 2001 at about 6 months old. She is about 2 - 2 1/2 years old in these pictures taken December 2003. Sally was rescued by some adults at a kids' camp next to where she was living. They witnessed her being beaten by some children at the home and the parents doing nothing about it. Because of that, Sally is scared of everything. She is, however, very loving and a bit shy. Sally needs to go to a home where the children are 12 and older. We do not know how she would respond to children or cats, but she does get along with other dogs. Sally is so STARVED FOR ATTENTION. When a volunteer is cleaning her kennel, she tries so hard to get the person's attention so that she can get some loving. Sally loves to give kisses and be petted. Sadly the volunteer only has time to give her a few minutes of his/her time before moving onto the next kennel. Sally looks so sad when the volunteer leaves. Sally is a very gentle, loving, quiet girl who would love to be a lap dog and just sit quietly on or near her person. She is afraid of just about everything and everyone at first. We do not believe that she has a mean bone in her body. However, we do not want to put her in a stressful situation knowing that she is a scardy cat and that she does cower at load noises, hides when there is a lot of commotion, and doesn't like change much. Sally is now 5 - 5 1/2 years old and would do best in a quiet setting where there isn't a lot of commotion and not much change. We do believe that the change into a new home would be a little hard on her at first. However, once she got into the right home, she would adjust and she would absorb the attention like a sponge. She would truly blossom. Can you give her the attention and show her the kindness she so deserves?
