Description:
Hannah is a 4 year old petite, female basset hound. She was pulled from a local shelter on December 21, 2008. After being abandoned, she spent two weeks at a crowded shelter, during which time she had her three puppies taken from her and caught kennel cough. She was scheduled to be euthanized within a few days' time due to the overcrowding in the facility. To make matters worse, she had been labeled 'unadoptable' due to her fear issues, particularly towards men. But, We Are Family Animal Rescue stepped up and pulled this beautiful lady. We could hardly blame her for being afraid after all she'd been through. She is now being fostered and is making slow but steady progress in overcoming her fear. Her surgical scars are all healed and her kennel cough is just a distant memory. Our vet always comments on her beautiful red coat, she is one lovely lady. Hannah's perfect home would be classified as calm and patient. She gets very quickly attached to her caretakers and loves nothing more than snuggling under the covers next to someone she loves, 'cookies,' and belly rubs! Hannah still shows signs of having experienced trauma in her earlier life, for this reason a home with no small children or other dogs would be best. Her behavior improves every day, and we are in love with her! Hannah is spayed and current on all vaccines. She is available for adoption as a Special Needs Dog, as she will always require some extra TLC and slow introductions to new people and experiences.
