Bogart was rescued from a shelter in North Carolina. Bogie definitely has traits that are characteristic of Aussies. Australian Shepherd's are very intelligent, but the Aussie has also been bred to control other animals. This trait is what makes them seek to assert authority and herd your cats, your kids and even you if you let them get away with it. Bogart is very smart and likes to be in charge, but he also is a cuddle bug and loves attention. He will let me clip his nails and trim his hair with no problem at all.
He would do best with someone who will teach him that he is not the pack leader. He is going to make a great companion for the right person who will understand him and continue to work with him on his issues. I don't think he was treated very well and is nervous around people that he doesn't know. Once he bonds to you he will be your best friend.
Bogart went through heartworm treatment when he first came to us but is now negative for heartworms! Bogey is now ready to find a family of his own. He recently graduated from Wilford Dog Training Academy, where he learned obedience commands like sit, stay, come, and more. If you are interested in Bogey please fill out an application.
