Description:
Blackie is a sweet gentleman of a dog that loves people and is very outgoing. Blackie has been a frequent flyer at the shelter. His loving owner came to pick him up time and again until recently when they just couldn’t do it any longer. Blackie’s family surrendered him in March 2010 because of this. They were heartbroken, but they just couldn’t keep him contained. In his new home, Blackie will need to be left alone very rarely, if at all, and when left alone he should be indoors and not able to escape. When with his family, Blackie would love to be able to go into his yard and play, but we want to be sure he is safe and not left anywhere he can get out of. Blackie would do very well as an indoor dog. He is housebroken and has great manners. Blackie has lived around children of all ages and plays very politely with them. He didn’t live with any dogs, but gets along very well with dogs at the shelter and would be fine in a home with one or two that won’t be too rambunctious since he’s an older guy. Blackie has never lived with cats, but when he met our office cat he licked her on the face. In his new home if he does live with cats they should be dog savvy and not run from him. Blackie has eight years of experience in being a wonderful, loving and loyal family pet. He would love to share some of his expertise with a new family that wants a mainly indoor family member to snuggle and play with.
