Hello! My name is April, and I'm as sweet as my springtime name! From the time I was 2 years old, I lived with a couple in West Virginia who loved me very much. But there was a divorce in the family, so I stayed to keep my dad company, and my mom visited me whenever she could. Then my dad got very sick and had to go into the hospital. He's still there, and will have to be for a very long time. Because my mom couldn't take me to live with her, she contacted the local animal shelter and pleaded with them to try to find me a good home. The shelter contacted Eskie Rescuers United, so here I am. I just love my foster home, but I would love even more to have my very own home and human with whom I can spend the rest of my years.
I'm a very healthy gal, though I don't hear as well as I used to. And I do have to fess up to one small 'geriatric condition' that really isn't a problem as long as you give me my weekly medicine. This is SO embarrassing, but here goes: I have incontinence (blush)! To control this, I only require one very inexpensive estrogen pill a week. (My pills only cost about $2.00 a month, and these days you can't even get a single cup of coffee or a gallon of gas for that price!)
I have all my veterinary records for the whole 12 years I lived with my previous family. I'm up-to-date on all my vaccinations, and my teeth were cleaned 2 years ago. I'm heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm, flea and tick prevention.
I'm not good with cats, but I do just fine with other dogs, though I tend to do get a little cross when they try to steal my food! Wouldn't you? ;o) I love playing with my toys and sleeping on my comfy bed. Of course, I'd really prefer to share YOUR comfy bed!
Because of my age, we think it would be best if I were placed in a home with adults only, or one that has older, gentle children. I would love to have my very own someone who will take care of me for the rest of my years--will that be you? Won't you please consider adopting me and giving me a loving forever home? I promise you'll never regret it!
I would make a great companion for an senior person and am eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United’s “New Leash on Life” Senior program. To learn more, please visit our website: Senior Program.
I'm still hoping to be claimed by my very own forever family, but I understand why that probably won't happen. It's hard to open your home to a lady in her golden years, but would you consider sponsoring a sweet old gal like me? My vet bills are going to put a real dent in the budget, and I'll need heartworm, flea and tick prevention medication, as well as my annual shots. My foster parents and I would certainly appreciate whatever you're able to contribute to my care. Thank you!
If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Deborah: firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process.
Thank you and WOOF!
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please click the donation button below to make a tax-deductible donation through PayPal and help make a difference to even one American Eskimo dog!
