Update 4/10- My foster mommy helped me study REALLY hard and I found out today that I passed my last blood test!!! HOORAY!!! That means I'm now available for adoption!
Since I get extremely anxious in the car and with changes in my life, I can only be adopted nearby so that my foster mommy can help slowly introduce to me to my new family- that means people who live an hour or less away from Rockford, IL will be considered. Extra stress can hurt my heart, and we don't want that.
I don't like being on furniture and don't like other dogs being in my personal space, so I should be an only dog. I also need a fenced yard so I can get my exercise. I can't go on regular walks because of my heart, I hope you understand.
Even though I'm a special needs boy, I am one of the sweetest fosters my foster mommy has ever had. I'm polite, friendly and just want someone to love me. A quite household is important, not a lot of excitement, please.
So if you're someone who's a homebody, doesn't get a lot of visitors and has a fenced yard and you live near Rockford, IL, send my foster mommy an email! She'd love to hear from you!
Update 2/26- Hey! Guess what! I'm scheduled for a check-up in April and my foster mommy says that if it goes really well, she's going to try & find a furever home for me! Isn't that great?
You see, because of my heart condition, she didn't think anyone would want me. But since I've been on medication and I've been doing new things, she thinks that if we take things slow, and if the right home is out there, then she'd like to see if I can find a new home. I never thought this would happen!
So come back in a couple of months to see how my check-up goes! Due to my heart condition, my foster mommy will be putting some restrictions on where I might go (I don't handle long-distances well), but if the right family comes along, I will be luckiest eskie around!******************************Hi my name is Buddy and I cannot seem to remember what was happening in my previous life. But, one day the people who brought me to the shelter found me laying in their yard and I would not leave. I think I was just tired of wandering around without a family to love.
I've been in rescue since early May and was put up for adoption. Unfortunately, in late September, my foster mommy found out I have a severe heart condition as well as problems regulating my blood sugar. The vets told us that I have congestive heart failure, a really bad heart murmur, and may have already suffered a heart attack at some point in my life.
Since my condition is fatal, I've been put up for sponsorship. I have had an ultrasound and lots of blood tests. ERU is going to take good care of me, but I'm going to need further vet care and medications for life.
So I'll be staying in Rockford, IL with my foster mommy, which means I won't be available for adoption. My foster mommy has experience with seniors and special needs dogs, so I'm in great hands. Don't cry for me, I couldn't be happier!
Since I'm not available for adoption, I've been put up for sponsorship. This means you can send in a donation for my on-going care. I'm on daily medication for my heart and have been put on a special diet to try to regulate my blood sugar. So I could use all the sponsorship friends I can get!
Also, feel free to browse all the other eskies that are listed. Keep in mind, there are more eskies in fostercare than what is listed. So if you don't see an eskie that suits your family & lifestyle, feel free to put in an adoption application anyway.
Thank you and WOOF!
Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers. There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Eskie Rescuers United American Eskimo Dog Rescue, Inc. is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
