The folks at the shelter said that they have never seen a cat come in to the the shelter as skinny as I was. They thought I had some type of illness because I was literally a skeleton covered with fur so they had me tested for FELV and FIV. Those tests came back negative and I am perfectly fine. You could literally see my hip bones, all of my ribs and every ridge in my backbone. I was just so skinny because I wasn't sure where and how I was going to get food for so long ~ I just ate when I was lucky enough to stumble upon something to survive from day to day. I have been at the shelter for a couple of weeks now and yes! I am gaining weight ~ slowly but surely. They said that I have to gain a couple of more pounds before my spay surgery but I will have the weight put on in no time with the buffet that you get around here at CARA.
