Interesting Fact: Mango is a BIG, HAPPY BOY who carries around 18 pounds of LOVE!
Mango is a truly exceptional cat who needs a special home. He was rescued by SPCA on a frigid winter evening after we received a call from someone at a mosque. Mango had been living outside the mosque for over 1 1/2 years. Everyone knew Mango -- he had became the official 'greeter' at the mosque's front door! While everyone loved having Mango around, they knew living exclusively outdoors without adequate shelter wasn't the best life for this friendly cat. SPCA took Mango into our care and he was soon adopted into a very nice home. But having lived outdoors for so long, Mango isn't happy living exclusively indoors. Mango is exceptionally affectionate and responds well to just about everyone -- craving lots of petting and scratching. He loves to interact or cuddle with people and has a strong purr. Mango seems to like dogs, but can be territorial toward cats. While we have a strict 'indoor only' policy with cats, we think Mango can't be truly happy unless he is allowed to explore the great outdoors. He needs a home where he can safely roam without encountering traffic or other territorial cats. We are possibly looking for a 'farm life' for Mango where he is allowed indoors to get the people attention he needs, but is also allowed a safe outdoor environment during the day. To make Mango's situation a little more challenging, while he appears to be a healthy, hearty cat, he has been diagnosed with slight hyperthyroidism. While he shows no clinical signs of this (usually accompanied with dramatic weight loss!), to maintain his good health, Mango needs a daily dose of medication. If you can give Mango either a temporary or permanent home, or you know someone who can help us, please call or send an email. Mango would love to meet you and show you just how sweet he really is!
