My name is Moon Star and I am an adorable little 8 week old Seal Point girl. I am very sweet and affectionate and I love to play with my siblings. It appears that I am completely blind but I don't let that stop me - I interact and play with my siblings.
I was abandoned in a dirty, hot Arizona parking lot with my siblings. I was hungry, dehydrated, covered in filth and had such a bad eye infection that my eyes were stuck shut.
Thankfully a kind person found us and took us to an emergency vet where we were cleaned up and fed. Someone who worked at the emergency vet spread the word about us and let folks know that we needed a safe place to go. Someone on the Feline Diabetes List heard about us and put up a post on the list. A list member read about us and immediately notified Lois in Florida who is a volunteer/supporter of Siamese Rescue. Lois quickly contacted her friend, Marilou in Arizona who is a volunteer/supporter of Siamese Rescue to see if she might be able to help in any way. Marilou contacted RMSR to let them know about us and offered to drive us from AZ to CO if they had room. Luckily, RMSR had space for us. Until our trip could be coordinated, a kind lady in AZ kept us for a few weeks. Marilou and John picked us up on Monday, September 21st and we started our journey from Arizona to Colorado. We arrived at RMSR in Colorado on the evening of Wednesday, September, 23rd.
On Thursday, September 24th, we had an extensive vet check and it was determined that we are underweight, have worms, ear mites, an upper respiratory infection, and a horrible eye infection and that we will need aggressive treatment. Foster Meowmy and Pawpaw are using warm compresses and gently cleaning our eyes 4 times a day and we have now been started on an oral antibiotic twice a day, ulcer drops for our eyes four times a day, an antibiotic eye ointment two times a day, an anti-inflammatory eye ointment two times a day, L-lysine two times a day, Fortiflora once a day and we are being fed prescription Hill's A/D to help bulk us up. We are also starting to receive the other treatments we need like deworming, ear mite treatment, etc. We will have frequent vet checks to ensure we are getting whatever care/treatment is needed. Eventually once we are doing well, we will be vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Due to the severity of our eye infections, some of us may have impaired vision or be completely blind. The vet visit on 9/24 was $471.60 and that was with a generous discount from the vet and with the vet providing some things free of charge so the rescue anticipates running up a very large bill to get us healthy and ready for adoption.
SPONSORS NEEDED Due to our (Stardust, Starbrite, Moon Star, Shooting Star, Star Shine, Dream Star) need for extensive vet care, many medications and possible eye surgery for some of us, we are looking for sponsors to assist with the costs of our care while in the rescue program. As many of you may know, RMSR is a non-profit with limited resources. If you'd like to donate funds to help with our care or to donate to The Tornado Fund, RMSR's fund for special needs cats in their program, you can reach RMSR at CoSrc@SiameseRescue.org.
