'Hi!! My name is Teddy, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself. I once had a home with wonderful people who loved me and gave me lots of attention (since my favorite thing in the whole world is to be touched and petted!)Somehow, something happened and I ended up on the street. I was hungry and when some folks put out food to trap “feral” cats, I snuck in for a bite and ended up in a trap. Those folks noticed how handsome and cuddly I was, and decided that I shouldn’t have to go back to the street. I learned lots of things from thy time outside, but the main thing I learned is how to stay safe. Stay quiet and make yourself small!! Don’t get noticed, and always maintain hope that you won’t have to be here long.'
His foster mom says:
Teddy is settling into foster care nicely, especially considering that he had been trying to eke out a life on the streets for the past year and half. The lady who had been feeding him on her porch said that he was always trying to get inside and it broke her heart, but she had to 'shoo him away'.
Thus, it takes Teddy several days to know that he can trust you(and that you won't 'shoo' him off) and that it is OK to come to you to get some love! And, when he knows you're going to give him love, he will completely shower you with affection. He is a master at head butts and rubs and will “make biscuits” all day long on your lap. It’s as if he’s keeping time with the loud music of his purr and making up for lost affection-time! Extra patience will be needed while his forever family waits a few days for Teddy to warm up and settle in, but the rewards you will get in return will make that wait very worthwhile.
