PEDRO - came to Mid Michigan Cat Rescue from a neighbor of one of our volunteers, who found him wandering on his own. The neighbor wanted to keep him, but wasn’t able, so of course Pedro ended up with us! He is a very handsome black cat who was probably born in the spring of 2008, which makes him just a youngster really. Pedro has extra toes, which means he is a polydactyl cat. Polydactyl cats are sometimes referred to as “Hemingway cats” after the cats that inhabited Ernest Hemingway’s home in Key West. They all had six toes and their off spring still live in the house today (it’s a museum now). Pedro is a little shy at first, and easily frightened until he gets to know you. That probably comes from being on his own for a little while. For that reason it would be better if Pedro went to a home that did not have small children. We don’t know if he gets along well with other animals, but he does love grown-up people once he gets to know them! He talks a blue streak, and likes to be picked up and loved. He is playful, as most cats his age are, and likes his toys. And then there are all of those toes – he is just great! All cats and kittens have tested negative for FIV/FELv, up to date on shots, spayed or neutered and have been treated for internal and external parasites. Most are good with dogs, other cats and children.
