Description:
Matthew was first spotted as a tiny kitten on the doorstep of a house in north Chapel Hill in May 2009. Along with his 3 siblings, Matthew was rescued by a kindly couple, and kept in a crate in their garage for about a week, but the couple did not know how to socialize the feral kittens, and so they called the Goathouse for help. One of our volunteers agreed to take the kittens into her home, and give them the special care and socialization that they needed. Matthew and his siblings all had parasites, and upper respiratory infections, and were kept in foster care until they were well and trusting. The kittens made the transition to the Refuge very well, and now Matthew is a lanky, healthy, and friendly kitty who enjoys being around people and other cats. It took Matthew a while to learn to trust people, but he has grown into a sweet and energetic kitty who would make a wonderful domestic companion.
