DON'T MISS OUR CAT ADOPT-A-THON EVENT ON OCTOBER 11-12, 2008. CAT AND KITTEN ADOPTION FEES ARE REDUCED FROM NOW UNTIL OCTOBER 12TH!
My name is Mimi, and I came to the shelter in June of 2007. I lived in the same home with a family for 7 years. I used my litterbox faithfully, got along well with the children in the household, and tried to be a good companion, but I still found myself here. My owners go on long vacations, and they decided that they don't want to leave me at home when they go on vacation, so out I went. They surrendered me to the shelter and I became one of many animals here because my owners have 'no time' in their lifestyle. Since I grew up as an only cat, all of the other cats have been a bit overwhelming for me, but I have adjusted by taking over the top of the colony. You see, the colony room holds two large dog kennels tops over 6 feet high, and they set up a nice spot on top of the kennels where we cats can climb and sleep. I have claimed that kennel top as my retreat, and I spend much of my time up there. Although I will allow others to come up, I make sure I have my space. If you walk into the colony room and look up towards the ceiling, you will probably find me! Even though I am older, I can still be quite playful, and I am people-friendly, though I won't always come down to meet you because there are so many cats down there. But give me a chance to show you what a sweetie I am, and you won't be disappointed

Please note that it is our shelter's policy to spay or neuter all dogs and cats before placing into an adoptive home unless there is a documented medical reason the surgery cannot be performed. If a posted cat is listed as spayed/neutered, the surgery has been performed or will be performed before the animal is placed in its new home.
