Early one Sunday morning, the cleaning team at the shelter heard frantic pounding on the side door. When we unlocked the door, we found 2 British women, holding a tiny injured kitten. They were both frantic and said they just saw this little kitten crossing the road and was barely able to hold himself up. We have no vet on staff and the Animal Control would not come and get him, so after contacting Dr. Bradley Bays, she met us at her clinic to see if she could save little Crumpet.
His temperature was only 90 degrees and he could barely hold his head up. After having some pain meds administered, he began tearing into food. He spent the rest of the day on a heating pad. We were all praying for this little guy.
On Monday morning, a dramatic transformation had happened to Crumpet. He was at the front of the cage begging for affection (and more food)!! He has not looked back since.
Little Crumpet is a survivor and we are happy to report that he is now waiting for his forever family to arrive! We are so happy we heard the frantic pounding that cold January morning! And so is Crumpet! Although, we dont know their names, the British women were just visiting and we thank them for stopping to help this sweet little boy!Crumpet, boy, born approx 12/08.
HELP Humane Society Inc. is a non-profit organization currently run by a small group of animal lovers in Cass County, MO (just south of Kansas City). All HELP animals are treated by veterinarians, receive age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, spayed/neutered and those incoming after Oct 2005, have been micro chipped. Cats have been FeLV/FIV tested and are negative unless otherwise stated. Dogs have been heartworm tested and are on heartworm preventative.
HELP now has a no-kill shelter. HELP does not take in any owner relinquished animals. HELP rescues stray dogs and cats from the streets. We have been told by many adopters that the reason they liked adopting form us is because we have a happy place and all the cats are the friendliest ones they had ever met. HELP feels that ALL animal’s are worth saving. We have many FIV and FeLV+ cats in our care. They will live with us until they end their life’s journey or find a permanent home.
