We think Miriam, one of the blue and white parakeets pictured above, is the mother of the other three birds, as Miriam is estimated at three years of age, and the others all at 1.5 years of age. Miriam has an old injury to one of her toes, which healed unevenly, but does not seem to cause her any discomfort. Mirabel, the snow-white parakeet, is definitely the queen bee of the group--she eats first, gets water first, or strong-arms the other keets to get her way. She is always on the highest perch, ruling over her domain. All four parakeets, including Mirabel's siblings Mabel and Marco (also blue and white), wake up in the morning singing and chattering amongst each other just like a tight-knit group of friends. As the day goes on, they play on the toys and generally have a lot of fun together. All of the keets love the mirrors in their cage and spend as much time in front of them as possible, especially Mirabel. Although they frightened easily when they first arrived at Luna's House, this feathered family is getting much more confident as time goes on. We would love to see the birds adopted together as a family unit, but are willing to adopt them out in pairs if necessary. All of the keets are healthy, wings freshly clipped, and are all set to find their forever home, where they can relax and be happy for their next 12 years! Contact us at Adoption@lunashouse.org
