Oscar is our latest Taiwan rescue and is a 3 year old Beagle. His owner died and he was left to fend for himself. Our rescue contacts in Taiwan were asked if they would assist in finding him a great home overseas as it was unlikely to find one for him close to home. He is 13 in. and 30lbs. Oscar gets along great with other dogs. He loves to play with them and is a good option for playing with other dogs. He could easily fit into the dog park, doggie day camp or the dog beach. He could fit into a 'pack' of dogs as well in a new home. He's a true scent hound and so if off leash would follow his nose as far as it would go - which could be Alaska -- so no off leash for him! He could easily go hiking as long has he was on a long lead and not left to lead the pack because heaven knows where he might lead you with his nose!Oscar doesn't mind the cats. He has met them several times and as he transitions in his new foster home spends more and more time with them. As much of a scent hound that he is, he doesn't seem to be inclined to be aggressive towards cats. Oscar would only be an option for older kids. He's still very mouthy and probably didn't have a lot of structure in his home. In fact, we were told he was quite spoiled and it shows. He would do well to have an experienced home that loves the breed and doesn't mind that Oscar is just learning the word, 'No!' now.A good overview of beagles to learn about the breed and make sure you're up for the task is: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/beagle.htm
