Description:
The past three months of Captain Jack's life have been spent at the Arlington shelter; lucky for Jack that he developed a special bond with a volunteer who enlisted Lucky Dog to step in to help him. Jack arrived at the shelter with fur so tightly matted that he had sores on his skin; he was shaved down so his skin could heal and his fur is growing back in nicely.
Jack enjoys the company of other dogs, both small and medium-sized and he thrives on human companionship. Jack was paid little, if any, attention in his previous home, so he does not enjoy being 'alone.' He is very well-mannered, an almost 'hands-free' dog who obeys the 'come, sit and down' commands; we are still working on the 'stay' command. Jack is extremely mellow, adores attention, but is not 'needy;' he will play a little, nap a little and he enjoys being close to his humans while watching TV or sitting at the computer. Jack also enjoys going for rides in the car and he has attended PetSmart's doggie day camp on numerous occasions where he 'plays' with the small dogs. Jack is a big boy, currently weighing about 75 LB, but he is much like a big, loveable bear!
NOTE: Jack spent the majority of his early years as an outdoor-only dog. He is now an indoor dog with access to a dog door. Jack MUST be kept indoors, NO EXCEPTIONS!
