This is an intelligent working breed of dog that makes a good family pet. They are medium in size, and require moderate exercise to keep them in top condition. Portuguese Water Dogs are very playful, obedient, easy to train, and enjoy retrieving games of any sort.PURPOSE OF BREED:The Portuguese Water Dog has existed for centuries as a fisherman?s working dog. They were used for various duties while on board, such as: retrieving nets and lost articles at sea, herding fish to the nets, barking in the fog to alert other boats of their location, just to name a few of its duties.AVERAGE LITTER SIZE:8 puppies
