This is a very good question! Some manufactures have small differences but for the most part, there is no difference. The reason for the different labeling and use, however, is due to the fact that there are different laws in each state regarding rabies vaccination. Some states require annual vaccination and some require vaccination every three years after the first 2 vaccines (usually one at 3-6 m old and once a year later). It sound crazy and some vets do not even know that they are the same, they chose the vaccines according to state laws and rules of compliance. If your state requires once every three year vaccination and your pet was given a vaccine labeled for one year (even if they are technically the same) your dog will legally be deemed "not up to date on vaccines". Not your vet's fault -- and yes, crazy-- but your vet is required to comply with the state laws! For more information you can go to www.nasphv.org.
