My cat has a hole about half an inch wide to the inside of her front left leg. It goes fairly deep -- at least half an inch plus down can be seen without any effort. It appears to give her no pain, so I was wondering if it could be a parasite? There is a little nub on the edge of the hole that is roughly the size and shape of a tick. This is what I felt when I picked her up that alerted me to the hole. The hole is not bleeding but the fur around it appears wet, from pus or from her licking herself. Do you know what it could be?

J, your cat likely has a wound from trauma or from an abscess that ruptured (gross, I know). Until you can take her to the vet, please keep the area clean and dry and covered gently if possible. She does need to see the vet and will likely require clipping the fur off in the area and having the wound cleaned well and she will likely require antibiotic therapy for the best chance of proper healing. I hope all goes well with her, keep us posted!
